Its only a paint job, I know that, but I love them anyways. And as long as they aren't too played out, I'm looking at you '68 Camaro and '78 Vette, I will like them way more than the standard model.

Both those Chevys belong to you?

Nope, just a picture I got off google. I wish I owned them though, the truck is cool as hell.

But what about the purple and yellow C5?

Check out these babies

I have a huge weakness for purple cars. So I do like that one.

If the yellow was black, I'd dig it.

I love the Aurora, I do like the older Bravada pace car more though.

I agree the yellow seats are just too much. I like yellow and purple but not together. Yellow/black, purple/black are ok.

Screw pace car. Get race car.

I'm ashamed to admit that I actually liked those when they came out. They didn't age well.

I don't like them all, but I do like the ones in that picture.

I'd say the C5 hasn't aged as well as the C4 has or C6 will.

ZOMG I love that purple C5 pace car!!!!!

The Stealth pace car was awesome, until the UAW got all butthurt and made them pull it in favor of a prototype Viper. Nonetheless, they managed to make a few of them before the union shitstorm

Went looking for interesting pics-and look what I found for you.

I think as a whole, the C5 is aging OK, especially the Z-06's. Ten years ago, I didn't really love the C4, but time has changed my mind, and I've found myself lusting after late C4's like crazy.

no 68 Camaro pace car, 67 and 69 Camaro's were Indy Pace cars. The Camaro has paced the Indy 500 in 67,69,82,93,10,12,14

Well, which ever was the white one with orange stripes, 69 maybe. So many damn clones.

There was actually one of these for sale near me for like $1500 not too long ago.

There's actually two of these by me, look identical.
There's a fake one of these too:
Has a white top and side pipes.

Meh, weak.

That would be a 69 Pace Car. The way you spot a real deal pace car over a clone is the trim tag on the firewall. Z11 was stamped on the trim tag to mark the pace car editions in 69. These cars were SS/RS convertibles with the artic white and hugger orange Z/28 style stripes. They also featured hugger orange houndstooth deluxe interiors.
also in 1969 a very small batch of Coupes with the trim tag stamp of Z10 were built. These were also SS/RS cars with the same paint job but no confirmed Z10 has had the hugger orange interior.they have been found to to have either black or white interiors in either the standard flavor or the deluxe style.

WTF? NEVER KNEW THIS EXISTED! Thanks!
![]() 10/14/2014 at 08:29 |

Technically speaking if it didn't pace the race then it's considered to be a clone.
The Z10/Z11 festival cars are more accurately called pace car replicas.
The only reason why this matters is because cars 1 and 2 actually paced the race and are still out there today occasionally changing hands.

well the bigger difference also is that in 69, cars were built that were never at the track but the Z11 tag shows the "Pace Car" package. While in 67 both the Pace Cars and all the Festival cars were the only cars built. No extras or an option bundle. There was a small special batch built later in 67 for Canada after they complained they didn't get any of the festival cars.
The Z10 cars are a real oddity because there is really no paperwork or ddocumentaion to their origin. They are not reall pace car coupes like many say. The best guess currently out there is that they were a regional car like a Twister mustang. The reason for the thinking is mainly due to how the coupes are not exact matches in options to a Z11, mainly the interior.

I would love to have an old pace car with functioning lights. Hold the electrical fire though.
